Evolution is Dying in U.S. Schools

We have written several comments on creation vs. evolution. "The Death of Evolution" on 3/28/04 and "Creation Invented Science" on 2/22/04. There are so many scientists and professors that have given up on the Theory of Evolution because of lack of proof, and because of scientific findings in the last twenty years, including DNA, it's a matter of time before the theory is dropped out of school books. Due to the unwillingness of many people in the education field to accept Creation, for their own personal reasons, it's been estimated the process will take ten years.

Well it looks like the process has started. The N.Y. Times ran an article in December "Alternative to Evolution Unfolding in U.S. Schools". It states,

Quote: The A.C.L.U. has filed a lawsuit in U.S. district court in Pennsylvania against the school board of Dover, Pa., saying the board violates the religious rights of several parents and students by requiring the teaching of an alternative theory of evolution in public schools...

The theory says the development of the universe and the earth was guided at each step by an "intelligent agent."

Proponents say it provides scientific answers for gaps and inconsistencies in the theory of evolution.

Critics, including the groups suing, say intelligent design is a watered-down version of creationism, which the Supreme Court has repudiated in public school curriculums.

Initiatives to introduce intelligent design in curriculums are percolating nationally, and this case could test how far opponents of evolution can go in shaping the teaching of science, said advocates and critics of intelligent design...

Recent surveys have shown that a majority of Americans favor teaching alternatives in school, and local boards have stepped up efforts to challenge the teaching of evolution.

In Cobb County, Ga., the ACLU has sued the school district over a disclaimer about evolution inserted in textbooks.

In Kansas, conservatives who favor challenging the teaching of evolution recently won a majority on the state school board, and they are generally expected to change the state science curriculum as early as the spring.

The two groups in the Pennsylvania case say teaching intelligent design violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, which calls for separation of church and state.

The Dover district said in a statement on its web site that it was reviewing the case... Unquote

If you notice, the words God and creation are not used yet, but "intelligent design." But whatever title they want to give Him at this time, you can see the process of the "death of evolution" has just taken foot. It may take ten years for the education system to accept the fact that science has disproved evolution, but the ball is rolling, and I’m sure the ACLU, agnostics, atheists, liberals, and various religions will not go down without a fight. But who are they fighting? None other than God Himself, Who created everything, including science. Science - the tool that God created - is now proving that God is the Creator. And this Dover, Pennsylvania case just may be the genesis - in proving the Book of Genesis.
