Life or Death? The Presidential Election

Watching Hal Lindsey's broadcast about a week ago, it was made clear to me on how important this presidential election is. The following is partly from that broadcast.

Due to age or illness, there may be two, and as many as four, Supreme Court Justices retiring within the next four years. For that reason the next president will nominate Justice's that will tip the balance and set the tone for our children, and grandchildren as well. If new Justice's who believe in life are appointed, Roe v. Wade will be overturned. On the other hand, if new Judges are appointed that are pro-abortion - then the killing of our babies will remain the law of the land for generations to come. As Christians, it is wise to examine the ethical views of our presidential candidates.

President Bush is on record as opposing Roe Vs Wade, and favoring its repeal, and he has already authorized a ban on partial birth abortion.

Kerry is on record, saying he will appoint only judges who support Roe Vs Wade, and has voted in favor of partial- birth abortion. (If you are not familiar with partial-birth abortion, it involves pulling the feet of a living baby first out of the womb, except for the head, puncturing his skull and suctioning out his brain). Kerry has voted six times in favor of this horrible procedure. In an interview, Kerry says, he believes life begins at conception. Now this is a dilemma - if one believes a fetus is a human life – then abortion is murder. Is this what they call a Kerry flip-flop?

The Bible is not unclear about when life begins. King David said in Psalm 139:16 "The substance of every person conceived is written in God's Book." Now God does not make dead things, nor does He make junk. Everything God does has a purpose. We may not understand the purposes in this life, but someday we will know the "why's."

God said to Jeremiah in chap. 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, as a prophet to the nations I appointed you." SO EVERYTIME SOMEONE ABORTS A FETUS - HE IS ABORTING A PERSON KNOWN TO GOD. Why did John the Baptist, who was a six month fetus, leap in his mother’s womb, when his mother Elizabeth was greeted by Mary? (Read Luke 4:41). Why? Because John, as a six-month fetus, was already a living human being. There are at least twenty scriptures in the Bible that are in opposition to the underlying premise of abortion.

The choice before Christians is a life or death choice for generations to come. Literally it may be life or death for America itself. Psalm 106:36 states "They served their idols, which became a snare for them. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons and they shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters..."

In the days of the countries in the area of early Israel, the people actually sacrificed their children to idols inspired by demons. But we, today, are doing something even worse. We kill our children because they are an inconvenience. God destroyed those nations that sacrificed their children, and God might destroy this nation too, unless we come to our senses, and repent.

And there is still time to turn away from this great sin of killing our children, and repent. 2 Chronicles 7:14 states "And if My people, upon whom My Name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek My presence and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them from Heaven and pardon their sins and receive their land."

The next occupant of the Oval Office will set the ethical standard of America for the next four years. Ethically the choice for Christians is a matter of life and death for millions of babies, possibly for generations to come.

I believe life begins at conception. If the normal process is uninterrupted, life comes out of the womb, a normal human being.

If you call yourself a Christian, whether Republican or Democrat, then prove it! Vote for life!
