Want to End the War, Write a letter to God

I think most people will agree, the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan is just going on too long, and there is no political solution, at this time, to end these wars, or the worldwide terrorism. There is no human on earth who can solve the vast differences between the Muslims and all other religions.

But, take heart, there is Somebody who can. The One who can solve the problems of all the different types of people here on earth is the One who created the earth and all the people.

I know that if every Christian in the United States put their minds to it and prayed for the conflicts, terrorism, and bloodshed to end - it would definitely happen. There are two steps in ending the Mideast wars (or any wars) and bringing the troops home safely.

Step 1. Let’s follow King Hezekiah's example in 2 Kings, chapters 18 and 19. He spread a letter out in front of God, and prayed for help when the city of Jerusalem was being besieged by the Assyrian army. There was no hope the city could survive the 185,000 troops outside the walls. But help did come that night, help from the angel of the Lord, and the siege was over. All this because one God fearing man made an earnest prayer to God, and spread the letter of doom out before God, that was presented to him by the Assyrian army commander.

You too can do basically the same thing. You don’t need a letter written by the enemy to hold up to God, showing the blasphemy. Do it a different way. Write a nice letter to God, stating your feelings toward the war; to stop the bloodshed, to find a peaceful solution. Spread this letter out on a table before God or hold it up in the air, and pray. If you have relatives or friends that are in the armed services, write their names in the letter. If you have photographs of anybody you know in the service, spread them out, or hold them up and pray for their safe return home. Talk to God as if you were talking to your father (He is your real father). In simple words just say something like this "Hey Lord, I’m requesting this as your child. These relatives and friends written on this paper are also your children. Bring them all home safely, and put an end to these wars. I’m asking this in the name of Jesus."

Step 2. Talk to your Priest or Minister about having a church service at least once a week that is devoted to the safety of all the service men and women that belong to your church. Get as many from the congregation as possible to show up for this service. List all the names of the service people on a piece of paper, along with photos, spread them out on a table or hold them up to God, and pray for their safe return home. Call out the name of each man or woman in the service, and tell God you want all these people back home safely.

I know of a church, during World War 2, where the congregation prayed for its sons one night a week, to come home safely. This was not a thirty second prayer for peace, as most churches are doing today during the Sunday service. This was a complete hour or more long service of fervent prayer devoted only to the safety of its members in the service. The result of all those nights of prayer? All the 18 or 19 servicemen from that church did return home safely, not one was lost. And some of them were in outfits that were wiped out around them.

Believe it that this type of prayer works.

The more churches that set up prayer meetings for peace in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the safe return of their members, and the more people who pray daily at home for the same goals, will bring action from God to answer these prayers, and end the wars, a lot quicker than us humans.
