The Wall of Israel

On 11/09/03 we wrote a commentary "Gog and Magog", explaining the conditions that have to be set before the war of Gog and Magog in Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 takes place. In this commentary we will add to those conditions, in view of the wall being constructed inside the country of Israel.

As I am writing this commentary, Israel is building a 425-mile wall in the West Bank. They say the barrier is necessary to block suicide bombers who have killed hundreds of Israelis in the last four years. Recently, the highest United Nations court issued a sweeping condemnation of this wall, and is declaring that Israel must tear it down. The 15 international judges voted 14 to 1 to tear it down, with only the American judge dissenting.

Most of us in the world are not even aware of this wall, or probably couldn’t care less if the wall is built, or not built. But what makes this the most important wall ever built? Even more so than the Berlin or China walls?

1. Because it’s in Israel, and whatever happens in Israel affects the world.

2. In the future it will be part of another fulfilled Bible prophecy.

Ezekiel wrote in chapters 38 and 39 about the future war of Gog and Magog. Using old Biblical names of countries, he describes how Russia along with quite a few Moslem countries will attack Israel. In verse 38:8 he states "After many days you will be mustered, in the last years you will come against a nation which has survived the sword, which has been assembled from many peoples, on the mountains of Israel which were long a ruin, which has been brought forth from among the peoples and all of whom now dwell in security." In verse 10 he continues "Thus says the Lord God: at that time thoughts shall arise in your mind (Gog), and you shall devise an evil scheme: I will go up against a land of open villages and attack the peaceful people who are living in security, all of them living without WALLS, having neither bars or gates to plunder and pillage---."

Notice two statements in the above verses "In the last years" and "all of them living without walls". Ezekiel describes an attack "in the last years" (and I believe we are in the last years) against Israel which has no walls.

To make a statement "no walls" means a wall had to exist first! Or why would walls be mentioned at all? Israel in these last years had no protective walls, but they have one being built now. Sometime in the near future - either through international pressure, or most likely a so-called peace treaty – this new wall will be torn down. Israel will live in peace for a short while until Russia and the Moslem bloc will attack in the Gog Magog war.

It makes no difference what you believe, in the validity of building this wall today, its construction is being inspired by God to later lead into His prophecy of the Gog Magog war in Ezekiel 38 and 39. I believe this war will take place during the 7 year Tribulation period, just before the final battle of Armageddon.

Building a protective barrier dates back thousands of years, but today’s technology has all but made walls obsolete. Today, the whole world is living in unwalled villages. And now, all of a sudden, one is being built as a protective device in Israel? Remember for the Bible to make a statement about the people of Israel living without walls in the final years, there would have to be a wall, or walls, constructed first, and then removed. And that wall is being built today.

Whether you realize it or not, you are seeing Bible prophecy taking place right now - today. This wall may be torn down tomorrow, or 20 years from now, but when it does come down, along with the peace treaty we mentioned in the Gog Magog commentary, hang onto your shorts, Ezekiel’s war will follow soon after, a terrible war in which 85 percent of the invading army will be killed. (Ezek. 39:2)

Take the time to stop and think, on how close we are getting to the final years - the Tribulation years. It’s all unfolding right before our eyes. You don’t want to be here in those years. There is an easy way to get out of the Tribulation, turn your life over to Christ right now. It’s simple to do, just read our commentary on 04/18/04 "Abandonment Of Your Will To God", and follow the instructions. God Bless you.
