The Antichrist and 666

One of the most fascinating mysteries in the Bible is the number 666 and who is the Antichrist? The answer to this mystery will not be known until after the Rapture. Those who are left on earth after the Church disappears will know soon enough.

John Hagee in his book "Attack on America" gets into the subject and makes a comparison between Jesus Christ and the Antichrist:

" In Daniel, the Antichrist is the "little horn" of chapter 7, the "king of fierce features" of chapter 8, the "prince who is to come" of chapter 9, and the "willful king" of chapter 11. John the Revelator gave us another way to identify him: "Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666" (Rev. 13:18).

"The number of a man," according to Bible scholars, is six. Under Old testament law, mans labor was limited to six days, for God commanded man to rest on the seventh day. The seventh day is God’s day, and throughout the Scripture, seven is the number of divine completeness. Six falls short of seven, just as anything done by created beings falls short of the Creator's perfection.

The Antichrist's number, 666, could represent the satanic trinity: Satan, the Antichrist, and the False prophet. For just as six falls short of seven, Satan falls short of being God the father, the Antichrist falls short of being God the Son, and the False prophet falls short of being God the Holy Spirit.

Another explanation for the Antichrist’s number lies in the ancient Jewish practice of gematria. As the apostle John wrote Revelation, he certainly knew that his readers were familiar with this practice, which involves substituting letters for numbers. The letters of the alphabet designated certain numbers in the same way that Roman numerals represent numbers. It would be a simple matter for members of the early church to convert a number into a name or a name into a number.

In Revelation 13:18, John made it possible for the world to identify the Antichrist by the number 666. This cryptic puzzle is not intended to point a finger at some unknown person. It is, however, intended to confirm someone already suspected of being the Antichrist.

This information is of no practical value to the church because we will be watching from the balconies of heaven by the time this lawless ruler is revealed. But for those of you reading this book after the church has been taken away, you should be able to confirm which personality arising out of a European federation is the devil incarnate, the son of Satan.

During the late 1930s and the early 1940s, a flurry of pamphlets identified Adolf Hitler as the Antichrist. Others declared that Mussolini was the Antichrist because of his close relationship to Rome.

In his book "Is the Antichrist Alive and Well?" Ed Hindson lists several world leaders who have been suspected of being the Antichrist. The list includes Kaiser Wilhelm, Joseph Stalin, Nikita Khrushchev, John F. Kennedy, Mikhail Gorbachev, Ronald Wilson Reagan (nominated because he had six letters in each of his three names), Saddam Hussein, and Bill Clinton, with Hillary as the False Prophet. But no one can possibly know who the Antichrist is because he will not make his appearance upon the world stage until the church has been removed.

The so-called man of peace, this false messiah, is probably alive now and may even know his predestined demonic assignment. Though we do not know who he is, we certainly know what he will do. "

Here are some comparisons between Christ and the Antichrist.

3. Christ humbled Himself (Phil. 2:8) - The Antichrist will exalt himself (2 Thess. 2:4).

4. Christ was despised and afflicted (Isa. 53:3). - The Antichrist will be admired and lauded (Rev. 13:3-4).

5. Christ came to do His Father's will (John 6:38). - The Antichrist will come to do his own will (Dan. 11:36).

6. Christ came to save (Luke 19:10). - The Antichrist will come to destroy (Dan. 8:24).

7. Christ is the Good Shepherd (John 10). - The Antichrist will be the evil shepherd (Zech. 11:16-17).

8. Christ is truth (John 14:6). - The Antichrist will be "the lie" (2 Thess. 2:11).

9. Christ is the "mystery of godliness," God manifested in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16). - The Antichrist will be the "mystery of lawlessness," Satan manifested in the flesh (2 Thess. 2:7-9), the living son of satan.
