Prophecies or the Last days, Part 2 of 4

In last week's column, we showed you ten prophecies that foretell of the Last Days, and were predicted by Jesus 2,000 years ago, and Old testament prophets over 2,000 years ago. All these prophecies are being fulfilled today. We will now list more of these prophecies, based on the book "101 Last Days prophecies" by Eternal Productions.

11. Deadly diseases would be common (Luke 21:11) "There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place..." Emerging diseases such as AIDS, Ebola, Hanta virus, Dengue, West Nile , SARS, bird flu, etc, underscore this fact. Ironically, just a few decades ago, some scientists were forecasting that advances in medicine might soon eradicate deadly diseases.

12. The nation Israel would be born in one day (Isaiah 66:8) "Who ever heard of such a thing, or saw the like? Can a country be brought forth in one day, or a nation be born in a single moment? Yet Zion is scarcely in labor when she gives birth to her children." This prophecy was fulfilled on May 14, 1948, in a single moment, on one day, announced to the world that Israel is a nation again, after 2500 years of occupation. This is one of the most startling fulfilled prophecies in the Bible.

13. The Jews would begin to re-gather in Israel (Isaiah 11:11-12; Ezekiel 37:21-22). "The Lord shall again take it in hand to reclaim the remnant of His people...He shall raise a signal to the nations and gather the outcasts of Israel; The dispersed of Judah He shall assemble from the four corners of the earth." Another of the most important fulfilled prophecies of the Bible. Over 5 million Jews have returned to Israel in recent times! This is unprecedented in human history. Never has a people group been dispersed for hundreds of years to every corner of the globe, and then re-gathered back to their homeland. Name another country, or group of people, that were exiled from the land they lived in over 2,000 years ago, and returned back to the same land. Yet, God said it, and He has done it before our very eyes!

14. During the Diaspora (the dispersion of the Jews to the four corners of the globe), Israel would become a wasteland (Deut. 29:23-28; Ezekiel 36:33-36). "When I purify you from all your crimes, I will repeople the cities, and the ruins shall be rebuilt; the desolate land shall be tilled, which was formerly a wasteland exposed to the gaze of every passer-by." During the past 1900 years Israel became a nearly uninhabited, desolate wasteland - as testified by historians, and also by Mark Twain.

15. Israel, once a desolate desert, would blossom in the last days and export produce to the world. (Isaiah 27:6; 35:1-2; Ezekiel 36:34-36). Israel’s increased rainfall and world renowned irrigation technology have caused the land to blossom. Incredibly, as foretold, they currently export over 800 million dollars worth of fresh produce each year including over 200 million in flowers and ornamental plants!

16. Jerusalem would be rebuilt on its own ruins (Jer. 30:18; Zech. 12:6) "...but Jerusalem shall still abide on its own site." Since 1948, Jerusalem has been rebuilt on the old ruins - exactly as foretold.

17. The last days Jews would plant forests of trees. The Bible even specifies the variety of trees - cedar, acacia, myrtle, olive, cypress, pine , and box (Isaiah 41:18-20). This has happened in our day after Israel was a wasteland for nearly 2,000 years.

18. Israel would prosper economically (Ezek. 38:12-13). Amazingly, this recent re-gathered, tiny nation exported over 30 billion dollars worth of goods in 2004. In contrast, their neighbor Jordan exported less than 3 billion in 2004. This was inconceivable just a few decades ago!

19. Israel would once again plant vineyards on the mountains of Israel (Joel 3:18-19; Amos 9:13-15). "Yes, the days are coming, says the Lord, When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the vintager, him who sows the seed; The juice of grapes shall drip down the mountains, and the hills shall run with it." Today, sweet wine flows from the Golan Heights and many other vineyards on the mountains of Israel.

20. The Hebrew language would be restored (Zephaniah 3:9). "For then I will change and purify the lips of the peoples, That they all may call upon the name of the Lord, to serve Him with one accord." At the end of the 19th century the Zionist movement brought about the revival of Hebrew as a spoken language. In 1948, Hebrew became an official tongue of the state of Israel. Remarkable!

21. The Eastern Gate would remain closed until the Messiah returns. At Christ's Second Coming, He will enter Jerusalem through the now sealed Eastern Gate (Ezek. 44:1-3). Today, as prophesied, the Eastern Gate remains sealed, it has been sealed for hundreds of years. There have been a few attempts to open it, but the workmen who set up to remove the blockage from the gate, were scared away by one thing or another. This too is remarkable!

22. Anti-Semitism worldwide anticipated (Deut. 28:37; Jer. 29:18; 44:8). "...and make them an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, of malediction, astonishment, ridicule, and reproach to all the nations among which I will banish them." History confirms that the Jews have been persecuted as no other people group. Today, anti-Semitism is a global epidemic. For example, of over 700 General Assembly resolutions passed since the establishment of the United Nations in 1945, nearly 450 condemn Israel. None have been passed against any Arab country or any Arab terrorist organizations! In other words, out of 190 nations in the UN, over 60% of all General Assembly resolutions rebuke just one member, Israel!

Well there are twelve more "last day" prophecies, predicted over 2,000 years ago, that have been fulfilled during "these days", showing how close we are to the "last days."
