Facts on Hurricanes

Most of the following comes from a Hal Lindsey broadcast on October 27th 2005.

For 55 years we have been naming hurricanes. This year the name list wasn’t long enough to name them all. In 150 years of recorded history, 1933 was the worst hurricane season with 21 storms. Wilma made history when slamming into Florida by tying the record for hurricanes in a season, and set its own record in recorded history, at one point, for being the most powerful hurricane in history.

Katrina was the most destructive in history. More than 60,000 homes in New Orleans alone will have to be demolished. Hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses along the Gulf Coast were either damaged or destroyed. In intensity, Katrina ranks as fourth on record. Close behind Katrina, came Rita, which ranks as third most powerful in history.

2005 was a record year, in a record setting decade, for hurricanes. Nine of the last eleven seasons shattered standards for hurricane frequency and intensity, but they paled compared to this year's performance.

Here's how 2005 stacks up statistically: it’s the most prolific season recorded ever, and it’s not over yet. It was the most destructive season, and it’s not over yet. It was the most expensive season, and it’s not over yet.

Could God be sending this planet a message? Of course there are the nay-sayers who believe this year is nothing unique in the current disasters. If the catastrophic hurricanes were the only current disasters hitting this planet; the nay-sayers may have a point. But remember, all this is happening at a time after Israel, as predicted, became a nation in 1948. The current appearance of global disasters, such as continuous wars between nations; ethnic wars; earthquakes; plagues; global weather pattern changes; and great storms from the seas are all signs that Jesus Christ predicted would precede His coming.

He said they would be like birth pains, all hitting in the same time frame, increasing in frequency and intensity. These predicted signs can only be dismissed as coincidence at a person’s eternal peril. They tell us Jesus is coming soon - it's time to get ready to meet Him.

Take a few minutes to think of what’s happening world wide. The constant wars, the constant and record hurricanes, the monster earthquakes, AIDS, brand new diseases, narcotic drugs, the constant threat of terrorism, the constant ethnic problems, global warming, melting icecaps, the rising and raging seas, pollution, the high crime rate, the legal killing of children, record sunspots, record heat, record rains, and record drought. And even with the good economy the world has experienced in the last 20 years, we still have famine.

If you are one who believes that all these disasters that are constantly hitting us, especially in the last 20 years, are more than just coincidence, and maybe, just maybe, what Christ predicted in Matt. 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, and the Book of Revelations, might be coming to pass. Then it's time to receive the pardon Christ gave us, and turn your life over to Him.

You can do this by a simple prayer, and ask Jesus to come into your heart and run your life. If you need help for words, read our comment on 04/18/04 Abandonment of Your Will to God (praying for salvation).
